We collect only the information we need to operate the service, authenticate your account, process content you choose to upload, and improve reliability and safety. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use service data to track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising.
Information We Collect
Account information
If you sign in, we may collect your name, email address, profile image, and authentication details associated with your account, including sign-in data returned by Google.
Content you submit
We collect the content you choose to create or upload in the service, such as chat messages, bottle images, tasting notes, imported photos, files, saved collections, and preference settings.
Photo and camera access
If you grant permission, the app may access your photo library or camera so you can import tasting history, choose specific images, or let Smart Scan review recent photos to identify wine bottles. We only access this content to provide the feature you request.
Technical and service data
We may process technical information needed to run and secure the service, such as app version, device type, approximate usage timing, IP address, request metadata, and error or diagnostic information generated when you use the service. We also use PostHog for product analytics and masked session replay. This may record page visits, feature interactions, and usage timing, but chat, account, location, and form text is masked and images are blocked from replay. Our website also uses the Meta Pixel to measure visits and advertising performance. The Pixel may send Meta page URLs, referrer information, browser and device information, IP address, and identifiers stored by Meta.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the service, such as hosting, cloud storage, authentication, analytics, security, and infrastructure providers, including PostHog for product analytics and masked session replay and Meta for advertising measurement. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business. We do not sell personal information.
Permissions and Device Privacy
Your device controls
- You can decline or revoke photo-library and camera permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can stop using optional import and scan features without deleting your account.
- Authentication tokens are stored using secure device storage where available.
- You can limit browser-based advertising measurement through your browser settings and Meta account settings.

Retention periods
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, maintain your account, support imports and saved content, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and whether you delete content, close your account, or contact us with a deletion request.

Access and deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a privacy request, email info@genuinegrape.com, or submit an account deletion request.
Children and Age Restrictions
Not for children
Genuine Grape is a wine-related service and is not directed to children. The app should only be used by people who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will review and delete it where appropriate.
International Processing
Cross-border data use
We may process and store information in countries other than the one where you live. When we do, we take reasonable steps designed to protect personal information in accordance with applicable law.
